Story
Jane was born into a well suited family. She's an only child, because her mother died after she gave birth to Jane. Her father, a highly respected Professor of animals, never married again. Their marriage was a love marriage. Jane's mother was a close friend of the queen and although they weren't that rich, the queen honored them in many ways.
Till her 14th Birthday her father raised her on his own and cared for her education. He was very severe about her education in writing, reading and maths. He also taught her all the things he learned about the nature and animals during his travels. Her governess was the only woman in the house who tried to teach her the rules to be a good lady. Jane didn't cared about rules, she did what she wanted, her father didn't stop her. What made her governess crazy many times. Jane started to love reading books and when you didn't found her out in the nature, she was sitting in the library and read. She was a silent and calm child, sometimes a bit wild.
One week after her 14th Birthday she was sent away from her home to the man, she was supposed to marry on her 16th Birthday. Her father and the Lord had planned the marriage after Jane's 2nd Birthday. Jane didn't liked the man. He was way older than her. She knew that he could be her father. But she sighed and bore it. She was now taught very severely how to behave like a real lady. The sister of the lord and her daughters punished every wrong movement of her really hard. First Jane hated it. She wished that the two years would be over soon and she was finally married so the pain would stop. But after a year she found interest in the way of acting at the royal court. The gentlemen around her were always giving her compliments and she started to figure out how she could manipulate them. A wink here, a touch there and they always asked how to pleasure her. Jane liked that kind of innocent play.
A few months before their marriage, the old man died. He got very ill and the doctors couldn't help him anymore. Jane felt some kind of sad for him, but didn't cared further. Now she was supposed to marry the next Lord and this one was a young Casanova. On every ball Jane had met him, he was flirting with other girls and Jane saw him more than once disappearing with a young innocent lady. She had ignored it, as long as he didn't bothered her, it was not her problem. But now it was. Jane hoped, that till their marriage nothing embarrassing would happen. What he did after, didn't bothered her.
But a week before they were supposed to marry, Jane accompanied him to an important ball of the queen. She was flirting around like always, not to obviously to get any problems, as she heard a scream. Every guest was looking after the woman who had screamed and disturbed the nice party. As Jane saw her fiancé in the focus of the crowd, she knew that her honor vanished. He had brought disgrace to her. In the baddest way he could. One week before the marriage. If he only would have done it after the marriage, Jane hadn't cared about it. Her fiancé was caught, as he slept with the daughter of an important Lord. A virgin.
In this night Jane packed her clothes and left the house, that was supposed to be her home for her life. She moved back to her father and explained everything to him. A few days later the engagement was dissolved. With her fathers help Jane started to study at the university he once worked for and became a professor of plants and animals. A friend told her later, that the young Lord was now married to the woman, he had betrayed Jane with. She didn't cared and started to travel around with her father. Jane changed her attitude of a real lady to an independent woman, saying what she wants and doing what she wants. She started to gave herself a second self, stronger than she was and more disrespectful than she was before.
After her father couldn't travel with her anymore, she worked on her own, always concentrating on her profession.
Personality
Jane is clumsy and naive. She is just to afraid to show it and overplays it with a high self-confidence. Jane isn't used to live with peoples, what comes to the fact that her father had traveled a lot with her and she travels alone a lot herself. She is a curious and caring person, who lives nearly just for her profession.

Family&Relationships
Professor Porter, Jane's father and her idol. She loves him very much and does everything for him. She even comes back to England and joins some of the boring balls on the high society. He taught her a lot about nature.
Miss Porter [dead], Jane never got to know her, but she loves her. She always carries a picture of her mother and father with her.
Shan Yu, Jane has definitely a crush on him. She feels safe when he's around. The only thing that's worrying her are her own feelings. Does she love him already or not? And why does she act so shy when he's around?
Fa Ping, he's important to Jane and she thinks of him as a close friend. There is something she needs to figure out about him. But she still thinks that it can't be true. Although it wouldn't change her mind.
Megara, Jane likes her a lot. That Meg shared her secret with her, makes her happy. Jane thinks of Meg as a sister. She cares for her and wants to protect her. She still wonders that it was so easy getting close with her.
